Welcome to Willow Class!
Welcome 2024
- English - We are studying Odysseus by Hugh Lupton - looking at narrative writing, the use of speech and scene setting. His adventures are legendary, and we plan to produce some next chapters along the way. We will be writing and re-drafting creative individual and collaborative pieces by hand and with the computer. Our class reading book is From Hereabout Hill by M. Morpurgo but the children will be reading as often as possible as well! After half-term we study Carrie's War by Nina Bawden, looking especially at letter writing, development of characters and key punctuation. We have plenty of opportunities to develop paired creative writing!
- Maths: we will be consolidating our understanding of the four operations as well as looking in detail at fractions. Our work will also cover measurement, and we will be solving real-life problems to help apply our learning effectively.
- Science: we are learning about 'Electricity', including circuits and fixing problems and 'Light' this term. We work in small groups as well as individually - with plenty of practical experiments.
