Emotional Well-being

Our Well-being mentor is Mrs R Rimmer

Findern Primary School has a well-being mentoring program within school. The aim of the program is to help children overcome their barriers to learning.

A child could be referred because of low self-esteem, being de-motivated, issues at home or difficulties within their peer group. Mentoring will help your child feel good about themselves, raise their self-esteem or help them communicate better with adults and peers.

Mentoring involves spending a short amount of time, each week away from the classroom. The session will be either 1-1 or in a small group with Mrs Rimmer.

Nurture

We have introduced Nurture Groups to the school, with the support of the Inclusion Support Advisory Service from Derbyshire County Council. The aim of the Nurture Group is to provide additional support for children’s social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs within school. The sessions focus on developing emotional awareness, building positive relationships, increasing confidence and supporting children to manage feelings in a safe, structured and supportive environment.

We are able to make a link with Bridge the Gap to support children’s emotional well being and the resources to support teachers and parents with this.
