We have been learning about Inuits and how different their lives are to our own. The children have written a diary entry about The Day in the Life of an Inuit. Here is an example of a good piece of writing! Well done Year 1!

Learning to write different types of sentences

In English this term, the children have been writing their own version of 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. They have written some animal riddles and they will be looking at writing some animal fact files. Our work is all based around our 'Frozen Planet' topic.

Supporting your child with their cursive handwriting.

This is a cursive writing demonstration video showing how to write the letters of the alphabet in their precursive form, which will support your cursive (joined) handwriting. It models how to write the letters of the alphabet using pre-cursive script. Cursive handwriting is commonly taught in schools across the world.

In English this half term, we will be looking at writing simple sentences using a capital letter, a full stop and clear finger spages. We will be looking at stories that are set in the woods such as 'Where the Wild Things Are' and 'Stick Man'.
