Sport for Girls

We have a commitment to positively fostering girls' participation in PE, sport and physical activity. At Findern, we regularly offer both mixed and girl only after school clubs. Girls have a fair share of the use of our new football goals on our school field, for example, and this has seen participation across year groups increase. Our girls enter the prestigious Premier League Primary Stars U11 Cup which offers the chance for the winners to play at a Premier League Football ground in the final. Girls also participate in competition in school via inter-house matches where they choose their own sports and also against other schools, where they enter a diverse range of sports such as hockey, athletics, swimming, cricket, gymnastics and cross country - to name just a few!

Inter-House Football Christmas 2023

A local semi-professional footballer came in to deliver some dedicated girl football sessions at breaktime. He complemented the school on the standard of their female players!

We were excited to be part of the Football Association's 'Biggest Ever' Football Session on March 8th. Our Sport Ambassadors led open sessions of football at breaktimes on the day, hoping to encourage as many girls as possible to take part and inspire a new generation of female footballers at Findern! (Many of the girls leading the sessions have, themselves, been inspired to join local clubs through their experiences at school).

On March 7th, we took a squad of Year 6 girls to the 'home' of English Football, St. George's Park as part of the national campaign and they engaged in a range of football related activities followed by a competition in the afternoon. See our latest competition news - we had an amazing day!

Our new Premier League funded kit designed by last year's girls' team has now arrived. Specifically designed for girls, our new kit should have plenty of use in the coming years.
