We are going to look at subtraction again today. Can you remember what that means?
It is the opposite of addition so instead of adding more objects, we start to take them away instead.
When we look at a subtraction number sentence, the largest number is always first in the number sentence as that is the amount of objects that we are looking at before we start to take any away.
On the PowerPoint below, there are lots of subtraction number sentences to look at.
Things to remember about subtraction:
- Always start your number sentence with the largest number first
- The answer should be smaller than the first number in the number sentence
Can you now try to answer all of the number sentences on the PowerPoint? Check your answer after each one!
