Today, we are going to look at using a number line to help us find one less than a given number.

Sometimes it can be tricky to think of the number that comes before a number, as we usually count forwards such as 9, 10, 11 etc.

There is a PowerPoint below with some ‘one less’ questions for you to have a go at answering.

Firstly, can you count the amount of bubbles on the page, then find the same number on the number line. After you have done this, you should be able to find one less by doing a jump backwards and landing on the correct answer!
