This half term we have been learning all about dinosaurs. The children have enjoyed learning the different names of the dinosaurs and exploring the different features to identify what kind of diet they had.
They have also enjoyed investigating dinosaur skeletons and matching them to the different dinosaurs.
The children have taken part in science experiments where they were challenged with melting dinosaur eggs, experimenting with different ways of melting the ice and observing which melted the quickest.
The children ended the topic with making their own dinosaur fossils using salt dough and finishing them off by mixing paint and sand to add texture to their fossils!
The children have now learnt all of their Phase 2 and Phase 3 phonics sounds! They have enjoyed applying these new sounds in their writing as well as using some of our 'superpower words'. This half term the children have used their phonics knowledge to write sentences about their own dinosaurs!
In Maths, the children have been learning about early addition and combining groups of objects to find a whole. They have practised writing these as number sentences and have even been using their problem solving skills to work out missing number problems!
